Derek Anthony Carroll was born, Saturday, July 20, 1985 in La Plata, Maryland to Jacklyn "Jackie" Aleta Brown and Terrance "Terry" Joseph Queen. He was more affectionately known to his family and friends as "Dirty Redz" and "Buttarow."

Derek was educated in the Charles County public school system and graduated from La Plata High School. He was employed by Clinton Fencing.

Derek had a great interest in football and was an avid Washington Redskins Fan. He was a very proud father and loved his children. Derek enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at family cookouts where he ate most of the food. His father, Terry, had the most positive influence in his life.

Derek transitioned to eternal rest on Friday, February 16, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father, Terrance Queen, grandmother, Shirley Brown Rice, grandfathers, Walter Ransome and Pearly Parker and niece, Indya Carroll.

He leaves to cherish his memory, mother, Jacklyn Brown; children, Anthony "AJ," Jabari, Khaleel, Paris, Kharon and Ma'Kiyah; sisters, LaToya Carroll, Terrenda Washington, Ebony Brown and Tisha Washington; grandmother, Mary "Ann" Queen and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, friends; special friend, Delancia Mason and best friend, Raymond Edward Toye "Boo-Boo."
