Chase, Deonta Joseph (Age 43) of Oxon Hill, Maryland

Deonta was born on September 28,1986 to Joseph Chase and the late Gloria Farrar-Chase in Washington DC. He departed his good life on July 10, 2020. He went peacefully at Fort Washington Hospital into the presence of the Lord.

He received his education in Oxon Hill, MD but graduated from Lackey High School in 1994. In his earlier years he won numerous spelling bees and drawing contest. Deonta accepted Christ at an early age at Macedonia Baptist Church with his grandma the late Vera Chase.

Deonta loved to cook. He had several jobs, basically all pertaining to some sort of restaurant. He was a good, dependable worker who was well known everywhere he worked.  He also worked with the Big Apple Circus from New York when they performed at the MGM, Oxon Hill.

Deonta was a loved man. The one thing that stood out about him was his laugh. He had a good sense of humor and loved to make everyone smile. Deonta has a passion for football. In 1997, they won a trophy for runner ups in the 21st Annual Virginia Flag Football Association Championship in Virginia Beach, VA. Deonta loved listening to music and having fun times with family and friends. No one was more of a Washington Redskins fan than Deonta. You could literally hear him all through the house as if he owned the team.

In addition to his mother, Gloria, Deonta is preceded in death by his grandparents, LeRoy and Vera Mae Chase, Joseph Smothers, Bernard Harris and Virgie Farrar.  He leaves to cherish his memory his father Joseph Chase, his only biological son Deondre Chase with Latoya Johnson in which he helped raise her children Christopher and Christal Williams as his own, his brother DeRon "Ronnie" Farrar, two sisters JoVon and Janalle Chase, one brother-in-law Shelton Johnson (the late Debbie), one Aunt Nita Chase, five Uncles Jospeh "Kit" Smothers, Jeff Forbes, Pernell Smalls, Deon and Man Thomas, two great Aunts Rebecca "Becky" King and Theresa Chase, two great Uncles Nathaniel "Sleepy" and Russell Chase, five nieces Asia and Londone Myers, Samiya Chase, Avreanna and Ivreanna Jackson, great niece Lola Wright, eight nephews Antoine and Jatoine Chase, Kevyne Sampson, Carii Chase, Tyrrell, Kevin, Kionne and Jayden Gardner, a host of cousins, friends and a special friend Constance Smith.

His viewing will be held from 10:00 am until time of service 11:00 am on Friday, July 24th in the chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.  Interment Heritage Memorial Cemetery, Waldorf, Maryland.
