The Life of . . .

Dennis Albert Crowder was the second born son on August 15, 1950 at DC General Hospital to James Lawson Crowder, Sr. and Constance Veronica (Crowder) Epps. He transitioned to his eternal resting place on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.

Dennis attended Holy Name School, Washington, DC and St. Charles Borromeo Tacoma Archdiocese, Seattle, Washington during his primary grades. In 1967 he attended Fairmont Heights High School and in 1968 he transferred and graduated at Anne Arundel High School. During his tenure at Anne Arundel he played on the Varsity Football team. In the fall of 1968, he attended Federal City College (now University of District of Columbia) and later transferred to Chattanooga City College in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Dennis had a passion for music and singing. While at Chattanooga City College, he had became a member of a local rhythm and blues group called the "Professionals". They performed at many entertainment venues. Dennis was the "Drill Sergeant" in the group ensuring that each member sang their musical notes in harmony especially at rehearsals.

In 1970, Dennis enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at the Fitz Simmons Medical Center, Aurora, Colorado where he worked in the Ophthalmology Department and later received transfer orders to Germany. Due to a disability and other illnesses he sustained while serving his country, he was Honorably Discharged in 1972.

In 1998 Dennis relocated to Phoenix, Arizona and lived there until he returned to Maryland in February 2017 where he became a resident at the Fine Living Care Assisted Living Facility, Clinton, MD.
