Obituary

Delores Catherine Jamieson, 82 of Port Tobacco, Maryland.

Delores Catherine Jamieson was born, Sunday, August 25, 1940, in Port Tobacco, Maryland, the fifth child of Margaret Mary (Bush) Jamieson and Harris Samuel Jamieson.

Delores grew up in and remained a lifetime resident of Port Tobacco, Maryland until her health began to fail and she ultimately became a resident of Genesis Waldorf Healthcare Center, Waldorf, Maryland. She was baptized at and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in Mc Conchie, Maryland.  She was not just a parishioner but a trusted one having a set of keys to the church allowing her to clean at her convenience. Delores attended Port Tobacco Elementary School and matriculated to Bel Alton Junior Senior High School, graduating in 1958.   After graduation, she worked at the Truck Stop in La Plata, Maryland for several years, after which she was employed with the Charles County Board of Education as a Food Service Worker.  Her career started at Port Tobacco Elementary School (now Charles County Community Service Building) and retired from James Craik Elementary School in Pomfret, Maryland.  Working in Food Service was natural to Delores, she along with her sister Evelyn would bake numerous cakes (Evelyn) and pies (Delores) for all the bake sales and church picnics at St. Catherine's Church. "Lores, Lore and Lore Lore" as she was more affectionately called by her siblings and nieces and nephews was known for her Lemon Meringue Pie.  She would only use My-T-Fine Lemon Instant Pudding Mix and Pie Filling to make her pies.  If she could not fine My-T-Fine, she would not make the pie or if she did make the pie, it was always with a disclaimer that My-T-Fine was not available, so the pie may not taste the same. Food Service was how she made her living, but childcare was her heart, again with her sister Evelyn they cared for numerous nieces and nephews and extended family children from birth to the middle school years.  Although she did not have any biological children, she had many children, to include her niece and Goddaughter, Tanja V. Jameson Carter, nephew, the late Joseph Melvin Jamieson, Jr.; great nephews, Jonathan M. Swann, and her man-man Keith Day Mureya just to name a few.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harris Samuel and Margaret Mary Jamieson, sisters, Anita V. Jamieson, Margaret J. Thornton, Theresa J. Quarles, Evelyn L. Jamieson and Juanita J. Yates; brothers, Joseph Melvin, Henry Edward, Charles Bernard and Vincent Harris Jameson; brothers-in-love, James Quarles and Augustus Proctor; sister-in-love, Brenda P. Jamieson; nephews, Joseph M. Jamieson, Jr., Randolph H. Jamieson and Christopher A. Jamieson; nieces, Judy E. Quarles and Kimberly V. Walker; great nieces, Spring Gray and Kendra Harley; niece-in-law, Sonya Jamieson.

Delores transitioned August 16, 2023, the same date as her sister, Anita Veronica Jamieson in 1981.

Jamieson and Patricia "Pattie" Hart; sisters and brothers-in-love, Leon Thornton, Joseph A. Yates, Sr., Randolph J. Hart, Jr., JoAnn G. Jamieson, Marlene R. Jamieson, Barbara C. Jameson, Faye C.
