Delores was born and raised in Washington, DC, where she attended Vermont Avenue Baptist church for many years. She graduated from Cardoza high school in 1946.
In 1947, Delores married the love of her life, Robert Warren Hill, Sr., from this union, they were blessed with three children: Jacqueline Virginia "Jackie"(deceased), Sonja Leverne Malloy and Robert Warren Hill, Jr.(deceased). The family lived in Washington, DC, until 1972, when they relocated to Fort Washington, MD. In 1973, they joined Hillcrest Baptist Church in Temple Hills, MD, and became active within the church.
