IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dawn Nicole
Atlee-Carter
March 3, 1977 – July 5, 2025
Dawn Nicole Atlee-Carter, 48, of Trussville, Alabama (formerly of Waldorf, Maryland), peacefully transitioned to everlasting life on July 5, 2025.
Dawn was born on March 3, 1977, in Washington, D.C., to the late Ronald G. Atlee and the late Cynthia D. Atlee. She attended Grace Baptist preschool in Bryans Road, MD, and received her early education in the Charles County Public School system, graduating from La Plata High School in 1995. During her high school years, Dawn was actively involved in numerous clubs and activities, including cheerleading.
Following high school, she attended Tuskegee University where she earned her B.S. in Nursing, with honors, in 1999. Dawn continued to further her education by earning a Master's in Nursing Informatics from Walden University, in 2012.
Dawn's deep compassion and love for children led her to specialize in the medical nursing fields of Maternity/Infants, Labor and Delivery, and Women's Services. Her professional nursing career began at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, and later continued at South Fulton Medical Center. Upon joining WellStar Health Systems, she truly found her professional home. Over the course of her career at WellStar, she served in multiple roles, eventually becoming Lead Data Abstractor in the Department of Quality and Public Reporting.
On October 16, 2000, Dawn married Tuskegee classmate Chadwick L. Carter of Powder Springs, Georgia. Their union was blessed with three beautiful children: a devoted son, Tyler, and two loving daughters, Lia and Lauryn. Dawn was the epitome of a "Supermom," always going above and beyond to ensure her children were deeply loved and cared for. She worked tirelessly as a Girl Scout Troop Leader for her Trussville, Alabama troop. She was always on-the-go championing her son's Pop Warner and high school football teams and her daughters' award-winning competitive gymnastics team.
Dawn leaves to cherish her memory a husband Chad; son Tyler; daughters Lia and Lauryn; sisters Kimberly Knight (Dorsee), and Keisha Atlee; nieces Aniyah Miller, Raven Knight, Meila Johnson-Atlee; Shaia Atlee, and Amina Atlee; nephews Jordan Knight and Leland Atlee; aunts Joan Tolson (Gus), Marsha Harley, Gladys Stuart, Sheila Bennett, Delcia Bennett, and Ostra Bennett; uncles Godfrey Atlee (Barbara), Ivry Atlee (Elaine), and Charles Bennett; a special devoted cousin Erica Hart Davis and a host of other relatives.
