David "Pedro"
Watson
September 10, 1950 – August 24, 2023
David Pedro Watson, 72, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
OBITUARY
David Pedro Watson, age 72, of Upper Marlboro, MD departed to his heavenly home on August 24, 2023 with his wife and family by his side at his side from cancer and other health issues. He was the fourth of seven children, born on September 10, 1950 at Freedman's Hospital, Washington, D.C. to the late Albert J. and Marie (Weedie) A. Watson.
Pedro grew up and was educated in Prince George County, Maryland. He attended Holly Grove Elementary, graduated from Frederick Douglas High School the Class of 1969, and continued education at Morgan State University graduating in 1973.
During his younger years, he worked with his grandfather, Galantine, on the farm working tobacco fields in different areas in Prince George. While in college, he worked for the Parks and Planning Service and in the Food Service at Andrews Air Force Base. After college, Pedro entered the government at the U.S. Treasury Department giving 40 years of service in various positions, ending with Leader Contract Security Specialist.
On May 28, 2011, Pedro united in Holy matrimony to Joan Savoy Mason. With this unity he gained a bonus daughter (Tracy) and granddaughter (Alexis) and later a bonus son-in-law, Fabian Rhule. Never was there a time when Tracy, Alexis or Fabian needed or wanted anything, he was not there for them. He was so proud when Tracy received her motorcycle license and her marriage to Fabian. He said his family was growing. Alexis was truly his "trophy". Picking her up at school or games was his biggest time to glow. Alexis's friends had different nicknames for him and he loved it.
Pedro's many joys were playing cards, baseball, basketball, football (Pittsburg Steelers), motorcycling and his latest was pickleball, introduced to him by his friend Van Ness Newman. After college, he was a scorekeeper for the Pisgah Boo-Boos' and other baseball teams. He enjoyed the comradery against the Pittsburg Steelers and wearing their colors. On most Sundays Pedro would attend the Drury baseball games. In addition, of course, being loud about whatever sport there was. Pedro joined the Independent Cee Cee Riders (ICCR) motorcycle club and gained a second family. His adventures with the association led to many travels to many other motorcycle clubs in and out of Maryland and meeting new friends along the way. Pedro left his rank as vice president of the ICCR and as treasurer of the East Coast Clubs United (ECCU) after becoming sick. Neither club would accept his resignation and hoped he would get well and pick up where he left off.
Pedro leaves to cherish his precious memory to his beloved wife of twelve plus years and his bonus family Tracy, Fabian and Alexis.
He is survived by three brothers, Vincent Garnell, Anthony Theodore (Surat) and James Donald Watson and two sisters, Monica Linda (Frederick) Henderson and Marie Antoinette Jackson as well as a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grandnephew and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Albert & Weedie, his youngest sister, Candace, preceded him in death.
Pedro was a sweet and dedicated soul who would always put others before hims elf.
