David Leon Johnson, Age 63 of North Chesterfield, VA.
David affectionately known as "Duck," was the 7th child of the late Johnnie and Ella Johnson. He was born in Washington, DC and attended public schools where he graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High. He started working for the Department of Defense while still in high school as a summer intern and was employed there as a Financial Analyst until his retirement in May, 2006.
Duck was a very mellow, laid back individual who did not bother anyone. He was always known, even as a child, to be a calm, sweet and caring person, however if you crossed him you had the chance to see the "other David". He enjoyed looking at Historical Cars, the Redskins and playing the Lottery.
Family was very important to Duck. He was a great source of joy and help to his Mother while she was living. He was always concerned about his sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. He enjoyed hearing about them and what they were doing. He was a great "big" brother to his younger brothers Oscar, Tommie and Larry. Though he never married, his constant companion for over 30 years was his beloved Dorothy. She and her children and grandchildren were a source of great happiness to him.
David had two sisters, Johnnie Mae Johnson and Barbara Austin; and two brothers, Johnnie Jr. and Ellis, who preceded him in death.
David had two sisters, Johnnie Mae Johnson and Barbara Austin; and also two brothers, Johnnie Jr. and Ellis, who preceded him in death. He leaves to continue celebrating his life his two sisters, Betty Bigesby and Delores Webster, three brothers Oscar, Tommie and Larry; two brothers-in-law Derek and Robert. His constant companion, Dorothy Wright, one uncle Pernel Johnson, and two aunts Orlean and Mamie Lou Johnson, a host of nieces, nephews, adopted children and grandchildren, cousins and friends.
The "Greatest and the Smartest" thing he ever did was to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He will be greatly missed by all!!
