Darryl Vernon Jackson, Sr. of Dunkirk, Maryland.

Darryl Vernon Jackson, affectionately called "DeeDee", was born on January 17, 1961 in Camp Springs, Maryland from the union of the late James D. Jackson and Gloria J. Jackson. On December 28 ^th , 2021, Darryl departed this life after a brief illness when he transitioned to his heavenly home.

Darryl was united in holy matrimony to Wanda Jackson and from this union was blessed with two sons, Darryl V. Jackson, Jr., and Dwayne A. Jackson. Additionally, Darryl shared a holy matrimonial union with Judy Jackson and from their union was blessed with his youngest son, Derrick V. Jackson. Darryl was a well-respected man placing great importance in being with his loving family, especially the traditional events and gatherings which always drew attendance from far and wide. He thoroughly enjoyed engaging in deep thought intriguing conversations concerning all sorts of topics, he was very personable.

Not only did he have a great fondness for sports, such as football and wrestling (going as far back as his junior high school day wrestling competitions), he had a great appreciation for "fine" cars. Another love, high on his list was the passion and importance he exhibited concerning his business, having a close place to his heart, that is, Zip Mailing Services, Inc. Darryl devoted many long hours of time, for many, many years in helping to make it the successful business it is today.

Mourning his departure are his three sons, Darryl Jr., Dwayne and Derrick Jackson; his beloved mother Gloria J. Jackson; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Anthony, James Jr., and Kevin; two sisters-in-law, Sandra and Stacy; devoted companion, Angelica Rojas whom he loved, cared for and enjoyed sharing his life with; her daughter, Stephanie and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, other relatives, co-workers and many friends.

Friends may visit with the family Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road Indian Head, Maryland. Interment, Heritage Memorial Cemetery, 13472 Poplar Hill Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.

Darryl was preceded in death by brother Aaron Jackson and sister Dorothea Robinson.
