Obituary

Dante Maurice Brown (Age 49) of Oxon Hill, Maryland.

Dante Maurice Brown was born in Washington, DC on May 10, 1970.  He departed this life suddenly, entering eternal rest on September 10, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his father, Duane Earl Brown, his mother, Maria Betzida Torres and his brother Damon Brown.

Dante joined Covenant Baptist Church in Washington, DC and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in 2007.  He attended services regularly with the family, until they relocated to Southern Maryland in 2009.

Dante was educated in the Washington, DC and Maryland public school systems.  After graduating high school, he pursued a career in the food service and restaurant industry, where he worked until his untimely death.  Dante worked hard and learned the business, quickly moving up to manager.  He served as Manager of several restaurants within the Red Lobster, Lone Star Steakhouse, Outback Steakhouse, Longhorn Steakhouse, and BJ's Restaurant Brewhouse Chains in Maryland and Virginia.  Dante was well-liked by his co-workers and the employees who worked under him.

Dante was a mild mannered and quiet person, who loved his family, dogs and fishing.  He was very proud of his girls; watching Dantise (Tise), Yadira (Deede), Ebony (Eb), and Jasmine (Jaz) grow into wonderful young women. And he was most protective of his baby girl, Ericka, who he affectionately called "Turtle".

In a family of all girls, most of the time…he finally got his boys, Donovan (Tough) and Drake (Drakey). He loved spending quality time with the boys.  He especially enjoyed taking the boys fishing.  Donovan and Drake shared that they recently went fishing, catching many fish which they took to the local place to have cleaned.

He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Yolanda Coleman Brown; five daughters:  Dantise Brown, Yadira Coleman, Ebony Carter, Jasmine White and Ericka Brown, all of Maryland; two sons:  Donovan and Drake Brown of Maryland; two sisters:  Ashia Walker of Texas and Kimberly Brown of Maryland; four aunts: Cheryl N. Brown of Maryland, Marcia E. Brown of Washington, DC, Tia Laura Torres of Puerto Rico, and Tia Sara Torres of Puerto Rico; a Mother-in-law: special Mom Mary Coleman of Maryland; two brothers in-laws: Rolando Coleman (Rishanda) of Washington, DC and John Coleman of Florida; and a host of other dear relatives and friends .

Funeral services will be held at the Covenant Baptist United Church of Christ at 3845 South Capitol St. SW, Washington, DC 20032 on Friday, September 20, 2019.  The family will receive relatives and friends during the visitation at 10:00 am until 11:00 am, the time of the service.
