Obituary

Cora Sue (Monroe) Greenhow, born to the late Inez C. Davis and Jimmy Bowman, and bonus father Arthur T. Davis, on January 11, 1942. Known to most as Sue or Ms. Sue, was called home to be with the Lord on May 5, 2022.

She received her education in the Charles County Public School system. Sue accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Zion Baptist Church, where she became a Deaconess, taught Sunday School, and sang in several choirs through the years. Our Velvet Songbird dedicated her life to serving and singing for the Lord. She was united in Holy Matrimony to John "Jackie" R. Greenhow, who preceded her in death.

In her younger years, she enjoyed singing, sewing, knitting, going to movies as a family, and many other family activities. Always strong, loving, and wise, she raised seven children on her own, which is pretty amazing because we were busy kids.

Later on in life, she worked at Meridian Senior Living for a short time. In 2000, she began working at Chick-fil-A, where she was employed for almost 22 years. As her Chick-fil-A family would say, Ms. Sue came with the building. She was adored by her boss Ken Weikel, her Chick-fil-A family, and countless customers whom she also loved and cherished.

Left to mourn her passing are her sisters Shirley A. Hawkins, Virginia "Lores" Bowman, Leola "Ann" Mason, and brother Colbert Bowman; her children, Myron A. Greenhow (Kacheri), Mark A. Greenhow (Kim), Martin A. Greenhow, Monte A. Greenhow (Pamela), who preceded her in passing, Marlon A. Greenhow (Rachel), Melanie A. Dyson (John), and Meredith A. Greenhow; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Carla, Michelle, Michael, Kristie, and Jeffery Hawkins; sisters-in-law Ruth Ann Bluford and Rose Greenhow; aunts and uncles, Margueriete Harvey, Violet Simmons, Elaine Baker, Liz Thompson, Frances "Sonny" Penny, and Paul "Bobby" Bowman; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and other relatives and life long family friends.
