Coby Evangeline Sneed
September 2, 1940 – February 7, 2012

On Tuesday, February 07, 2012, Coby Evangeline Sneed journeyed home to be with the Lord. Coby was a native Washingtonian born to the proud parents Mervyn and Rebecca Lacey. She loved her brother Mervyn Lacey Jr. (deceased). She was a graduate of McKinley Tech class of 1958. Right after high school, she started working for Saint Elizabeth's Hospital for a short period. After a year or so, she started her long career working for the federal government at General Services Administration, Departments of Agriculture and Interior, and the Office of the Inspector General. She retired from the Federal Government after 37 years of service, and over the past 2 years she worked part-time as a Security Monitor for USIS.

Coby is survived by her mother Rebecca Lacey Oduba and her three children, Thomas Wooden Jr. (and his wife Vivian Wooden of Temple Hills, Md., Thomas Wooden, Sr. of Montrose, Pa.) Nicole C. Sneed, and Monique B. Adams, (and her husband Mark Adams of Temple Hills, Md., Seth S. Sneed of Temple Hills, Md.) and dear friend Orlando Wood. Coby is also survived by her five grandchildren Kyle Wooden, Christina Adams, Gabriella Harvey, Nathan Adams and Seth Adams, her nephews Kevin (Cassandra) Lacey and Douglas (Katina) Lacey, her Godchildren and a host of other family members, sisters, brothers and many friends who she touched so dearly.

Coby is most known for her generosity, her love of sewing, her love of music and playing a hand of Bid whist. She loved to entertain her family and friends with parties and many "get togethers". The kindest thing ever heard about a person was said of Coby." If you needed food she fed you, if you needed clothing she found you clothing. If you needed a roof over your head she would either take you in or find you someplace to stay ". If Coby was in your life you were so much better for it. She will live in our hearts forever.

Viewing, 10am until time of Service, 11am Monday, February 13, 2012 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 6634 St. Barnabas Road, Oxon Hill, Maryland. Interment, Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, Maryland.
