Clifton Lewis Jackson, 96, of Washington, DC

Clifton Lewis Jackson "Jack" was born January 12, 1927, to the late Annie Carter in Lynchburg, South Carolina. He was raised by his grandparents, George and Hattie Jackson.

Later in his life he worked in the shipyard in Wilmington, North Carolina until he was drafted into the Army.  During his tenure with the Army, he was stationed for several years in Germany.  After his tour in Germany, he returned to Washington, DC where he met his future wife, Johnnie. They were married for 61 years and from that marriage one daughter was born, Vendetta. Clifton was a great provider and a quiet soul.

After his Honorable Discharge from the Army, he was employed by the Federal Government and held a position at the Census Bureau from which he retired. His hobbies were bowling and taking care of his family.  One of his favorite pastimes was playing solitaire.

Walking was his way of getting exercise. He slowed down walking and would drive to McDonalds to get a sandwich and go to the park to eat it. His memory will live on, but he will be missed in such a dynamic way.

He was preceded in death by his grandsons, Paul and Phillip Jackson, sisters, Shirley Harris, Eloise Carter and brother, Floyd Carter.

He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Johnnie, daughter, Vendetta (Louis), grandson, Eddie Hill, Jr., great grandson, Akyron Lee, sister-in-law, Mattie Lucas, brother-in-law, Hubert Reeves, sister, Betty Jones and Dorothy Foster (Andrew) and a host of family and friends.
