Clayton Edward Scott Sr., the eldest son of Joseph Edward Scott Jr. and Grace Inez Scott, was born on June 4, 1947, in Washington, D.C. He peacefully departed this earthly life on Thursday, May 28th, at Capital Regional Hospital.

Clayton was educated in the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) system, where he earned his GED. Driven by a desire for continued learning, he later attended the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), where he earned numerous professional certifications. A proud patriot, Clayton enlisted in the United States Army in July of 1967. He served his country with honor and distinction as a member of the esteemed XVIII Airborne Corps.

Throughout his varied and dedicated career journey, Clayton wore many hats. He spent a significant portion of his professional life at The World Bank, eventually retiring as a Mail Clerk Manager. Never one to remain idle, Clayton re-entered the workforce after his retirement, serving as an armed security officer with Admiral Security.

Clayton’s life was deeply enriched by family. Through his earlier marriages, he was blessed with a beautiful lineage of children. He later united in matrimony with Mary Brown-Scott, and the couple relocated to LaPlata, Maryland, where they shared their lives together until her earthly departure.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Joseph Jr. and Grace; his son, Rapheal; his brother, Joseph; and his sister, Margaret.

Clayton leaves behind a powerful legacy of love. He will be forever honored and cherished in the memories of his children: Clayton Scott Jr.,

Carla (Hugh Wallace), Nicole (King Motley III), Jerome, Tomeka, Tasha, Meredith, Mary Ann, and Pauline. He also leaves to mourn his passing his surviving siblings: Bernadette White, Major Scott, Marie (Arthur Dyson), and Moses Scott; a host of beloved grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other dear relatives and friends.
