CLARENCE LEE SHIFFLETT (AGE 73) OF LA PLATA, MARYLAND.
On December 16, 1947, in Charlottesville, Virginia, a son, Clarence Lee Shifflett, was born to Clarence William and Margaret Darlene Shifflett.
Clarence, affectionately known by family and friends as "Charlie" was devoted to his family. He was married to the love of his life, Janice, for 52 years. From their blessed union, three sons and two daughters were born. Family meant everything to him. Charlie loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was easy going, loved to laugh, was a great and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He attended family reunions and birthday parties. Charlie was most proud of his children and their accomplishments. He had a special talent for refinishing furniture and was passionate about collecting comic books. Charlie loved to fish during his spare time and that was quite often. His favorite music was Motown Oldies and Chuck Brown. He had a special affection for his dogs.
Charlie was employed as a painter by Colony South Hotel and retired after many years of service.
He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Daniel, Charles, Albert, John and Julian, sisters-in-law, Edna, Margaret, Nancy and Lucille, mother-in-law, Edna Rice and father-in-law, Daniel Rice.
Left to cherish precious memories are his wife Janice, sons, Johnnie, Troy and William, daughters, Shari and Danielle, grandchildren, Alexis, Jeremy, Shane, Skylar, Bryce and Mylah, great grandchildren, Savannah, Khloe, Mia, Bella and Santana, daughters-in-law, Celeste, Shannon and Kimberly, sister, Deloris, sisters-in-law, Blanch, Jane, Linda, Vicki and Margie, brothers-in-law, Donald, Edward, Thomas, Joseph, and a host of nieces and nephews. Charlie is loved by many.
His Viewing will be, 10:30 am, until time of Service, 12:30 pm, Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.
Interment, Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.
