Obituary
On Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Future Care Pineview Nursing Home in Clinton, Maryland, Charles Kenneth Milstead more affectionately called "Kenny" peacefully transitioned to eternal life with his loving and devoted companion Alice "Marie" Booth by his side.
Kenny was born Sunday, November 4, 1951 in Washington, D.C. to Royce and Donza Milstead. He was educated in the Charles County Public School System where he graduated from Lackey High School in 1969. After High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy.
After serving several years, he was Honorably Discharged. After leaving the Navy, he worked several jobs until he found his dream job at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, DC where he retired after 36 years of service.
He enjoyed many sports such as basketball, football, golf, bowling and softball (Pacesetters). He was the manager of a girls softball team called "Kenny's All Stars". His favorite sports teams were the Washington Redskins, Baltimore Orioles, and the Washington Nationals. He was a well known hand dancer, and he enjoyed going to the casinos and traveling with Jackie Baker.
Kenny was preceded in death by his daughters, Renee Savoy Alston and Kendra Lynn Booth.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Royce "Smat" and Donza Milstead; brother, Larry Milstead (Doris); nephews, Larry Antionne Yates, Joseph Erik Milstead and niece, Jomeika Erika Milstead; grandchildren, Christopher Savoy, Brandon Savoy, Sierra Savoy and Ricky Neal; son-in-law, Travis Alston; great grandchildren, Zuri Makala Renee Savoy and Cencere Remi Savoy; goddaughter, Angel Walls; aunts, Eppie Thomas, Ruth Simmons and Regina Ross; uncle, Oliver Penny (Renetta), special loving and devoted companion, Alice Marie Booth and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing, 9:00 am until time of Service, 11:00 am, Thursday, December 7, 2017 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.
Interment, 1:00 pm, Maryland Veteran Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623.
