IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles "Mickey"
Edward Simpson, Jr.
April 30, 1964 – January 23, 2019
Charles Edward Simpson, Jr. "Mickey" (Age 54) of Waldorf, Maryland.
On April 30, 1964, Creator God decided to do something extraordinary in the lives of Joan and Charles Edward Simpson, Sr. Creator appointed, anointed and blessed them with an amazing, strong and noble son, Charles Edward Simpson, Jr., aka, "Lil Mickey."
Born in La Plata, Maryland, Mickey was the first born among their union and many siblings. As the eldest, he learned from his Dad to be a strong, mighty man of valor with great respect for women. He excelled in school and became a graduate of Lackey High School Class of 1982.
Following graduation, Mickey entered the United States Navy Reserves. He served in San Diego, California and abroad in Iceland. After his Reserve Duty, Mickey worked various jobs until he began his work and career with the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC). Mickey displayed an impeccable work ethic; therefore, he was consistently studying and training for classes in water sewage waste management and maintenance. As a result, he was consistently elevated and promoted to positions of authority and supervision. Mickey managed 22 water maintenance employees of the Customer Care South Division at the Temple Hills Depot. He served WSSC for 26 years with fairness and professionalism. He was loved and respected by his WSSC family, as well as, his dedicated extended family that shared the same values of hard work and commitment to family. Upon retirement, Mickey was gifted another family member that brought him and others lots of joy. His beloved Old English Bulldog, Samson, which became the household baby! Where Mickey went, he followed.
Mickey was known for a great personality, an organizer with a giving heart and a no-nonsense attitude. He possessed a quiet, yet courageous spirit that made others want to become their best selves. Most people related to him as a real cool dude. He had a strong character, filled with humility for others. He considered most he knew as family. Spirit used Mickey in many ways to be a father figure to many young adults beside his own. His home was an open door for them to sort their issues of life, even through his own sickness. He welcomed many and encouraged them to follow their destiny. "Mr. Mick" and "Uncle Mick" were just a few of the names he was referred to as.
Mickey loved his children. He was a patient father with Mikey, Zyair and Zion. They often went to their Dad for advice and was proud of the man he was to each of them in their own way. He saw each graduate high school and the two oldest establish a life for themselves. He was a proud Dad. With Zion, the baby boy, graduating last year, 2018 was one of his proudest moments. All his children were adults now.
Mickey and Carol were soul mates. They shared a 22-year journey of an amazing love for one another. Some would say they were inseparable. They were friends, lovers, caregivers, parents, worshippers and seekers of not just knowledge, but, understanding of each other and the world around them. They traveled, explored and was always up to some new adventure. Their love for each other will not always be understood, but, will never be forgotten because it is timeless and unconditional.
Mickey was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Daisy Cecilia Adams, Nathaniel Johnson, Howardine Jackson and Luther and Doris Coleman; beloved sister-in-law, Sandra "Dee" Coleman.
He leaves behind to cherish many memories of a life well-lived, his adoring wife, Carol Simpson, his children, Michael Burns, Jr., Zyair Simpson and Zion Simpson, his beloved mother, Joan Adams-Williams, his beloved father, Charles E. Simpson, Sr., one brother, Brandon Simpson, seven sisters, Portia Barnes, Annette Tina Long (Sean), Corresa Simpson (Johnny), Renee Simpson, Lorraine Simpson, Samantha Trammer (Tim), Brittani Smith-Simpson, three brothers-in-law, Pastor Donald Coleman (Florence), Chris Coleman and Chad Coleman, two sisters-in-law, Cheryl Coleman and Angela Smith (Derrick); further survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mickey was an exceptional man, a man of valor. Those who know the Spirit of God knows that Mickey will always be with us and we are one with God.
