Charles Bernard Briscoe, 97 of La Plata, Maryland.

Charles Bernard Briscoe of La Plata, Maryland passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 at the Hospice House of Charles County in Waldorf, Maryland. Charles was born to William Bernard Briscoe and Mae Ruth Kelly Briscoe on May 16, 1919. He was 97 years old.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy Wills Briscoe, son, William Bernard Briscoe, brother, William L. Briscoe and sister, Mary L. Banks.

He is survived by five of his children, Mary Jane Short (Cecil), Charles Elwood Briscoe (Katie), James Russell Briscoe, Rev. Francis Leon Briscoe (Rev. Flower) and Barbara Elaine Jennings (Joe), a sister, Marian E. Farrar, 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 4 to 6 p.m., prayers, 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD and at
Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646 on Friday, February 3, 2017 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., Tributes 8:30 – 8:50 a.m., Funeral Mass 9:00 a.m. Interment 11:00 a.m. at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623.
