Smith, Chairmain Leanne 42 of Accokeek, Maryland.
Chairmain Leanne Hope Smith affectionally called Chairmain and Leanne was born July 11, 1983 at Prince Georges Hospital in Cheverly, Maryland. She was adopted to the parents of Delores and Winston Smith, Sr. She has three sisters, Lauri, Lynette and Gina and three brothers, Winston Jr., Lamont and Ayden. In addition to being born to biological mother, Cheryl (deceased) and Julio (deceased), she has three other sisters, Simitha, Nicole and Maria; brother, Omar and cousin, Phanessa.
Chairmain always greeted you with a warm smile, open arms and a “How you doing?”. She gave lifelong tight hugs freely to people she loved. She was very affectionate. Although the family was told she could not develop mentally or physically (i.e. learn, walk or talk) with love, Chairmain proved them all wrong. In fact, at the early age of 2, she attended James Ryder Randall Elementary School for Special Education. She went on to Oxon Hill Elementary, Stephen Decauter Middle School, Gwynn Park High School, Friendly High School and Leary School Prince Georges County. She graduated in 2004 from both Friendly and Leary. She received numerous awards and certificates of accomplishments (too many to name) from the schools and programs she attended.
You can remember Chairmain as a music lover. One of Michael Jackson's biggest fans. Her favorite colors are red and black with a splash of white (in which the family honors her today).
She was welcomed into EPIC group home in 2014, to join another family, not by blood, but by love. While there, she developed a friendship with her housemate Melanie, with whom she shared many precious moments and laughter. The staff and caretakers cared for her deeply. She enjoyed days filled with fun activities, shopping, laughter and connections. Leanne loved going out, whether it was to parties, picnics, shopping or church. She never hesitated to dance to her music, of course MJ, even though no one else joined her.
Her family, mother and father, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family (EPIC), housemate and friends will truly miss her beautiful smile and warm hugs. We thank God for allowing us the presence of one of his angels. May she rest in peace.
Her Viewing will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 9:30am until the Catholic Funeral Service, 11:00am in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Interment, St. Mary's Catholic Church of Piscataway, Clinton, Maryland.
