Cecelia Lillian Young
Cecelia L. Young, known as Miss or Aunt Ceil to many, was born June 24, 1943, in McConchie, Maryland, to the late John William "Willie" and Susie Anna Queen. Cecelia attended Charles County Public Schools. One of her greatest memories was receiving perfect attendance certificates during the years she walked to school. She married Wilbert Leroy Young in August of 1961 and from their union four children were born.
Cecelia was a domestic engineer. She was the neighborhood babysitter. She enjoyed taking care of children and treated them as if they were her own. She loved family gatherings, especially with her sisters, the Queen Girls, playing cards and eating milk and cornbread. She also spent time traveling to places such as Las Vegas, Florida, Williamsburg, the Bahamas, and Dover.
Cecelia peacefully departed this life on January 24, 2013, in her home in Malcolm, MD.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Willberta Swann-Freeland, Annie Burton, Louise Proctor, John "Jimmy" Queen, Catherine Proctor, and Isidora Proctor, and her youngest daughter, Melissa Young.
She leaves to celebrate her life her husband, Wilbert Leroy; her children, Kenny (Vera Michelle), Cyndee (Phillip) Hill and Tim (Jill); her sisters, Naomi Proctor, Dollie Reeves, Pauline Collins, Delores Buster and June (Joe) Proctor; her brother-in-laws, Reginald "Lebo" Young, Billy (Doreen) Wood and Tommy (Joyce) Wood; her sister-in-law, Patricia (Eddie) Wood-Giles; her eight grandchildren, Phillip, Keya (Marq), Ashlee, Damian, Bryana, Alina, Daniel and Taryn; her two great-grandchildren, Keyandre and Kylee; her best friends, Esther Briscoe and Florence Young; two special individuals who were like her own children, Joyce Shorter-Dickens and Robert Lee Briscoe and a host of relatives and friends.
Viewing, 9am until time of Service, 11am, Friday, February 1, 2013 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland. Interment, St. Catherine's Catholic Church Cemetery, Mc Conchie, Maryland.
