Catherine A. Tibbs of Nanjemoy, MD transitioned October 17, 2022.

Catherine Tibbs affectionately known as "Sis" was born on January 1, 1936 in Grayton, Maryland to the late James O. and Nellie Tibbs.  She was one of 13 Children.  Sis attended Pomonkey High School in Pomonkey Maryland.  Sis enjoyed playing softball, cards, going to the casinos, fishing and listening to good preaching and gospel music.  Sis retired from Naval Ordnance Station as a custodian worker.

Sis was preceded in death by her significant other Jefferson Johnson, son Lloyd Johnson, 3 bothers, Warren, James and George Tibbs, 5 sisters Louise, Rachel, Sarah, Mary and Gertrude.  She leaves to cherish her memories brothers, William (Trina), Harry (Blondie) and Gilbert Tibbs.  Children Jeffery (Sharon) Johnson, Larry (Michelle) Johnson, Debbie (Otis) Cobey, Rinnie (Wanda) Tibbs and special stepson Ronald (Jennie) and stepdaughter Wendy Queen, grand-kids Victoria, Jeffery, Jamilia, Jeremy, Kena, Tara, Lashawndy, L.J. and Justin. And a host of nephews, nieces relatives and friends.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, October 22, in The Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, located 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD 20640. The viewing will be from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment immediately following at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Nanjemoy, MD.
