Cassandra Donita (Thomas) Poole, 63 of District Heights, Maryland.

Cassandra Donita Thomas Poole (Cassy) was born on September 20, 1951 to the late Gerard Thomas and Florine C. King in Washington, D.C. Cassy was raised in Marbury, Maryland by her maternal grandmother, Mabel Hancock. She was educated in the Charles County public school system, graduating in 1969 from Pomonkey High School.

Cassy accepted a position as a Travel Specialist at the Department of Commerce on March 31, 1981. She was employed at Commerce for more than 30 years. Cassy loved her work at Commerce. She made a lot of friends and would speak of them often.

On February 2, 1979, Cassy married Raymond Poole (deceased) in a small ceremony in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

On Sunday, July 26, 2015, God saw fit to call Cassy home, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Hancock, a niece, Kennette Laird and her stepfather, Maurice A. King, Sr.

Cassy will forever be remembered by her sisters, Maurcia Brown, Pamela Simmons, Karen Swann, Monica King and Gail Craig; brothers, Larry Tyler and Maurice A. King Jr.; aunts, Laurie Hancock, Orlean Thompson, Yvonne Hancock and Evelyn Holly Lowe; uncle, (Reverend) Lowell Hancock; nieces, Tomeka King, Sabrina Gray, Caitlin Tyler, Regina Tyler and Renita Tyler; nephews, Maurice T. King, Patrick Swann, II, Jeffrey King and Larry Tyler, III; goddaughter, Chanel King; great nieces, great nephews, countless cousins and the many, many, friends who were very lucky to know her.

Visitation, 10:00am until time of service, 11:00am Monday, August 3, 2015 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland. Interment, 1:00pm, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland.
