IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cassandra Ann
Brown
October 25, 1962 – September 13, 2024
Cassandra Ann Brown, age 61, of Bryan's Road, Maryland.
"To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven." A time to be born was appointed on October 25, 1962, for "Cassandra (Sandy)" to enter this world and a time to depart was appointed on September 13, 2024, in Nanjemoy, Maryland. Sandy was born to the late Myrtis Brown and Clinton Jackson of Newark, New Jersey. During her life, Sandy grew up in the inner city of Newark, New Jersey and often referred to it as "Brick City". She is the ninth (9th) child of 15 siblings, and often was referred to as one of the many (unfounded) comedians in the family. Sandy began her educational journey in Newark, New Jersey where she attended Miller Street Elementary School and completed her high school years at Malcolm X Shabazz also of Newark in 1980. Upon graduation, she enrolled briefly with Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey, where she placed her studies in Business Administration. During her teen years, as luck would have it, Sandy met a young man by the name of Gregory Garris, where the two of them, with God's help, celebrated the birth of Gregory (Lance) Brown. However shortly thereafter, Sandy's physical health began to rapidly deteriorate. She was diagnosed with three types of cancers (Cervical, Breast, and Brain Tumors). After receiving this debilitating and life alternating news, Sandy was also told she only had six (6) months to live, however God, who always has the final say, blessed Sandy to live for an additional 27 years!!! Over the years, Sandy developed a few favorite go-to sayings, like: Don't tell Kim; I just want to be comfortable; Do you have any chocolate; If you need a place to hide out, you can hide here; I'm gonna stump on your toes; and lastly - I will never let you down. Sandy was preceded in death by her son Lance, mother Myrtis; sisters Debra and Patrica; brothers Robert, Roy, Lawrence, Leonard, and Anthony. Sandy leaves to mourn her life and celebrate her memory siblings Charles, Ronald, Dwayne, Myrtis (Eric) Windham, Kim, Michael, Melvin, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and many friends. Sandy will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved her. A Sister's Reflection "If I were to describe my sister Sandy, I would say, she's like the Moon…full of imperfections, but always shining brightly in times of darkness" …Love ya Lil sister Kim!
