BROWN, CARROLL EDWARD SR. (AGE 80) OF FORT WASHINGTON, MD
On Thursday March 14, 2013, Carroll Edward Brown was called home to glory.
Born in Croom, MD on October 8, 1932 to the late Richard and Mabel Brown, Carroll was a veteran of the US Army, a mechanic by trade and patriarch to his large family.
In February of 1956, Carroll met his future wife, Edwina Pitts and from that union the Brown family grew. The most important thing in Carroll's life was his family; his daughters, Carol Wiggins (Harold), Lisa Jones, Lynn Brown, Kimberly Taylor and Kristal Harris (Reginald), as well as his sons, Andre (Sherene), Carl (Diane), Terrance (Doris), Carroll Jr., (Tamu) and Christopher (Tanya). From his children Carroll would go on to become Granddaddy to twenty grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Part of a large family himself; Carroll leaves behind to rejoice in his memory his sisters, which include Ethel Boyd, Jane Pinkney, Gladys Spencer, Mary Ford; brothers, Herbert (Henrietta) and James Brown (Yvonne). Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Jociel Smith, brothers-in-law, James Smith (Ruby) and John Pitts (Shirley) as well as his sister-in-law, Jocelyn Adkins (Robert); and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Roy and Francis Brown, sister, Shirley Greene and son-in-law, John D. Jones Sr.
A simple man; Carroll enjoyed working on cars, fishing and in his later years it was not an unfamiliar sight to see Granddaddy mowing lawns and making giant pancakes.
The Home Going Service will be held at Calvary Gospel Church, 11150 Berry Road, Waldorf, MD 20603 on March 21st with the Viewing beginning at 11:00am until time of Service 1:00pm.
The interment will take place 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 1, 2013 at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
