MASON, CAROLYN E. (AGE 51) OF INDIAN HEAD, MD
Surrounded by the love of her family, Carolyn Elizabeth Mason, affectionately known as "Nana," peacefully entered into eternal life on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at her home in Indian Head, MD.
Carolyn was born on October 27, 1962 to Josephine Keys and the late Roland T. Gutrick, Sr. in Washington, D.C. She was educated in the school system of Charles County, and graduated from McDonough High School in 1981, and received a certificate in cosmetology at the Vocational Technical Center.
In April 2001, Carolyn became employed by Walmart, where she was a faithful employee for eleven years until her declining health forced her to take a leave of absence.
Carolyn was a kind, friendly person who was loved by all. She enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends and also loved listening to music. She was a "die hard" Dallas Cowboy fan. Most importantly, she loved caring for her family and would go the extra mile to help a stranger.
In addition to her father, also preceding her in death are her grandparents; John and Josephine Keys, Mitchell and Jesse Gutrick, and special friend, Tony Chisley.
In addition to her mother, also left to cherish many memories: husband, Joseph Mason Jr., daughters, Towanda Barnes (Michael), Jhomica Butler (Louis), Tiera Buchanan (Harry) and Nicole Carroll; grandchildren: Chanel, Asia, Jawaun, Jaylen, Xavier, Jamarion, Zyon, Maliyah and Dayshia; sisters, Yvonne Thomas (Roger), Connie Simpson, Joyce Proctor (David), Sheila Jenifer (Lloyd), Dianne Proctor (Steve), and Patricia Dyson (the late Harry); brothers, Roland Jr., Eugene (Tracy), Ronnie, and David (Velba); in-laws, Catherine and Joseph Mason, Sr. sisters-in-law, Shirel Marshall (Jeffrey), Barbara Maupin (Wayne), and Linda Showers (Damon); brothers-in-law, Tyrone Mason (Sharon) and Arnold Mason, Sr.; godchildren, Paul Barnes, Jr., Eugene Gutrick, Jr., David Proctor, Jr., Michael Jenifer, Destiny Swann and Desmond Dunnington; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends including Special friends: The Chisley Family, Gina Dunnington and Clarence "Big John" Short.
Viewing, 9am until time of Service, 11am, Monday, November 11, 2013 at Zion Baptist Church, 8105 Annapolis Woods Road, Welcome, Maryland 20693.
Interment, Church Cemetery.
