JONES, CAROLYN LEE (AGE 76) OF FORT WASHINGTON, MARYLAND

Carolyn Brown, daughter of the late Charles Dunlap and Geraldine Riley departed this life, November 1, 2024, at Washington Hospital Center in the District of Columbia. Carolyn was born on September 16, 1948. She was educated in the DC public school system.

Carolyn met David Brown in her early twenties and out of their union had three sons: David, Ronald, and Eric. She later met and married Robert Jones.  Carolyn was an amazing, strong, no non-sense woman who "said what she meant and meant what she said!"

Carolyn's career as a metro transit bus driver expanded over fifteen (15) years. Later, she extended her career as a teacher at the National Church of God Christian Academy.  Her passion for teaching and nurturing children was proven as she became a foster mother to Kianna, Jamal, and Antoinette, giving them a safe place of love, support, discipline, and guidance.

Her past time was cooking, playing cards, and she was a die-hard Redskins/Commanders fan!

Preceding her in death were her son: Ronald Brown, Sr., sister: Juanita and brothers: Daniel, Thomas, Avoid and Anthony. Leaving to cherish her memory are her two sons: David (Laurie) Brown, Eric (Lavon) Brown; siblings: Thelma, Bernard, Bernice, Maurice, and Kenneth; grandchildren: Shaunte, Brittney, Ronald Jr., Bryan, Rawn, Ashley, Noel, Kaylah and David III;  great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

Her viewing will be held from 10:00am until the Celebration of Life 11:00am, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.
