Calvin Ignatius Cooper, Sr. "Jake" Age 74 of Welcome, Maryland.
Peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at the Forestville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Forestville, Maryland, Calvin Ignatius Cooper, more affectionately known as "Jake," transitioned to eternal life.
Jake was born in Welcome, Maryland on Sunday, November 16, 1941 to the late James Henry Cooper and the late Mary Regina Dunmore Harrison. He was educated in the Charles County School system and attended Bel Alton School.
Although Jake worked construction by trade, he had a tremendous interest in cars and was admired for his ability to work on them. When he was wasn't working on cars, you might find him watching some old movies. He loved his family and the time he spent with them, especially at cook outs where he would hang with the guys in his brother's garage.
In his younger years, Jake loved to dance and stomp his feet.
In describing the type of man he was, his family will remember him as being funny, nice, sometimes hard headed and always determined. Most of all, they will remember their loving father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
In addition to his parents, Jake was preceded in death by two sons, Calvin Ignatius Cooper, Jr. and Carl Louis Cooper, brothers, James E. Cooper, Joseph S. and William Harrison, Cecil and Melvin Brown, sisters, Alice Hamilton, Bertha S. Gamble, Mary Proctor and Lucille Lyles, brother-in-law, Johnny Lewis.
Left to cherish many loving memories are his wife, Barbara A. Cooper, two sons, James Cooper and Kevin Spriggs Cooper; five daughters, Jesimenia, Barbara, Carla, Lakeisha and Laketa Cooper; eleven grandchildren, Ezra, Carl, Enok, Jerry, Tracy, Javonte', Jonathan, Kevin, Kalya, Kulisa and Ka'mya; eleven great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Tazane, Omari, Zakayla, Malayjah, Nicholas, Zaniya, Ziara, Carl Jr., Gerald Jr. and Khalid; three sisters, Agnes Theresa Keys (John), Veronica Lewis and Doris Fonuntaine (Warren); three brothers, George Cooper (Shirley), Charles Cooper (Adriana) and William Brown (Denise); sister-in-law, Linda Gray; two uncles, Frank Cooper (June) and Ignatius Cooper (Ruth); a special nephew, Ellsworth Gray "Buttons", special friends, Sonny Gray, Anthony White and Phillip Peoples and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
