Obituary

Bruce Norman Marshall, 61 of Bowie, Maryland.

On Monday, February 20, 2017 at his residence in Bowie, Maryland, Bruce Marshall transitioned to eternal rest.

Bruce Norman Marshall was born June 15, 1955 to the late Elymas Howard Marshall and the late Lillie Lee Carter in Washington, D.C. The couple shared three children through their union, Barry, Bruce and Keith. Bruce had 6 additional siblings born to his mother through another union including Asmar (Billy), Stanley, Milton, Lester, Brenda and Debbie. Bruce was the great grandson of Mason and Mary Christian Lewis and the grandson of Richard and Georgia Marshall.

Bruce and his eight siblings were raised in the Northwest section of Washington D.C. While attending middle school, he met the love of his life (Sarah) at the age of 14 years old. Bruce and Sarah married in February 1973 at the tender ages of 17 and 16 years old. They immediately began building a family through their union which included four children, Little Bruce, Chris, Temeka and DanNeil.

After leaving Cardozo High School, Bruce provided for his growing family performing various jobs including construction, maintenance and serving in the food industry. He spent his last years at home helping with the care of his grandchildren.

As a Washingtonian, Bruce was a loyal and faithful Redskins fan. His allegiance remained consistent regardless of the team's record. Bruce's other passions were dancing, singing and spending time with his family. He was a devoted grandfather to 18 grandchildren (Jasmine, Mariell, Aliyah, Spencer, Sahira, Zion, Makiyah, Aniiya, Gabrielle, Jazlyn, Tanazia, Khalfani, Danzeil, Nialah, Lailah, Naomi, Valerie and Briettny) and 2 great grandchildren (Aiden and Ryder). Bruce shared many evenings of laughter with his loving family and friends. One of his favorite pastimes was being a champion checker player among his children and grandchildren.

Bruce was a proud father and grandparent. He took great joy in attending graduations, award ceremonies and other special events recognizing their many accomplishments. Bruce was known for his sense of humor and trademark catchphrases (SOLID & Shake it Bay-Bee).

Bruce leaves to mourn his 3 children, 18 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 1 sister, 5 brothers and a host of loving family and friends.
