OBITUARY

On February 13, 1962 at Freedman's Hospital Washington, D.C., Brian Delbert Bland was born to parents, James Delbert Bland (deceased) and Elenora Butler Bland. Brian enjoyed a life full of love and family, shared with his twin sisters, Monica Bland Harris (deceased), Kimberly Ann Bland, and Brian's "brothers" Paul "Ricky" Butler and David Robinson. Brian enhanced his life further with life-partner, Melissa Lenora Warren and her son, Terrence Warren and daughter, Tameca Harley; aunts, Elizabeth Butler and Eudora Chesley; nephew, Brandyn Bland; niece, Maiya Harris; grandchildren, Taryn Warren, Isiah, Taye, and Andrea Harley; great grandchild, JoJo McCray; God children, Terry Butler Jr., DaRon Riley, Brittany and Shelby Warren, along with a host of beloved relatives and friends that are left to cherish and share memories of Brian.

Brian, a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Marbury, MD, began his walk with Christ at a young age. Brian enjoyed attending church alongside many of his cousins and was even crowned "King" of the Sunday School. Brian served as a Junior Usher, Junior Trustee and as a member of the Senior Usher Board. Brian's love of the Lord did not waiver and the way in which he lived his life reflected as much.

Educated within the Charles County Public School System, Brian was a graduate of Henry E. Lackey High School class of 1980 and attended Bowie State University from 1980-1982. Brian used the life-skills learned as a Cub Scout, Webelo, and Boy Scout to develop as a young man. Entering the workforce at a young age, Brian worked at the old laundromat in Indian Head, MD and was employed for over 35 years of service at Beretta U.S.A. in Accokeek, MD. Upon being notified that Beretta planned to relocate to Tennessee, Brian was selected to retain his Lead Position and join the company in Tennessee. Brian made the loving decision to remain near his family and accepted a public service job within the Charles County Government where Brian remained faithfully employed.

A devoted Washington Redskins Fan, fisherman, car enthusiast (Member of the Bad Boyz Car Club), card player and BBQ "grill master", Brian's quiet disposition changed completely when two things became the subject of conversation; his family and his cars. Brian loved all cars especially his 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, but he loved to tell the story of how he was gifted a Ford Fairmont by his father when he graduated high school; Brian's mother was not aware of the purchase made by his father, so the car was as much of a surprise to her as it was to Brian. A true family man, Brian absolutely loved his family, but often joked that his family understood that at any time they risked coming in second place to Brian cars.

Although Brian's love of cars was great, his love of family was greater. The family will miss Brian's presence the most and when not present how they could always talk to him on the phone. Brian would conduct a "call-around" every day to check on those nearest to his heart; some received Brian's calls 3-4 times a day. If Brian was unable to reach a loved one, he would resort to contacting others to pass on the message for "so and so" to call him ASAP; Brian would go so far as to call one of the guys sitting under the tree near his mother's home to determine if her car was in the driveway if he was unable to reach her during his call-arounds. Brian loved hard and did what "had to be done" to ensure that those he loved, felt his love.

Rest in Peace Brian Delbert Bland
