Brenda Ford

June 18, 1971 — May 24, 2026

Cumberland, MD

On Pentecost Sunday, May 24, 2026, our beloved Brenda T. Ford, transitioned peacefully to Eternal Life surrounded by loving family and friends in Cumberland, Maryland.

Brenda was the daughter of the late Retired Colonel William Cummins, Jr. and Jeanne H. Cummins. Her predeceased family members were her brothers, William Ill and Brad; and brothers-in-law, PT and Curtis. Brenda leaves behind a devoted Husband, Perry T. Ford; her children, Perry ll, Whitney, and Jeremiah; her grandchildren, Ethan, Perry III, Elizer, Paris, Pierre, Padma, Eagle, Serenity and Zariah; Mother-in-law, Priscilla; Father-in-law, Patrick; Siblings, Mark, Shon, Todd, and Diane; Brother-in-law, Colonel Edward Lefler; Sisters-in-law, Paige, Star, Angie, Lynn, Evadne; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Brenda was born at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. Her early life and education were abroad with her parents in Germany, Japan, and Africa. She returned to Prince George’s County, Maryland around the age of fourteen. Upon returning with her parents, Brenda graduated from Friendly High School and attended Bowie State University in the Early Child Development field. Upon completion, she worked at AAFB Early Childhood Center.

Brenda married her best friend, Perry Ford in Holy Matrimony at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church. During her marriage and raising their children in the Catholic faith, Brenda became devoted to the faith. She fully converted and received all her sacraments at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Washington, DC. Throughout her life, Brenda continued to carry a spirit filled with compassion and strength. This was an important part of her marriage, family, and life. Brenda loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and family to the fullest. She found joy in life’s simple but meaningful moments while playing with her grandchildren, listening to e-books, playing cards, attending family functions, and defeating her husband, Perry in Backgammon.

Brenda had a remarkable artistic gift that began at an incredibly early age. With her remarkable artistic ability, she created and brought pieces of old artwork to life. She loved crafting, freestyle coloring, doodling, painting, and creating beautiful artwork through dots, swirls, and squiggly lines that somehow came together into something extraordinary.

With her devoted partner, Perry, they created PT Ford, Inc, a Plumbing & Heating Service for the Washington Metropolitan area. After relocating to Cumberland, Maryland the two put their heads together and established another business “Postal Store Plus,” a shipping and packaging store where Brenda’s creative artwork sold as novelty items.

She fell in love with the Cumberland, Maryland surrounding communities and the people fell in love with her. Her spirit will live on with those blessed to have met her in their lives. Her legacy of love, creativity, faith, and kindness will never fade. Though our hearts are broken, we find peace knowing Brenda entered heaven peacefully on Pentecost Sunday and is now resting in the loving arms of the Lord. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” ~ Matthew 25:23
