Peacefully in her sleep Brenda Elaine Dorsey of La Plata, Maryland passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 at the age of 57.

One of nine children born to the late Mary Hilda Dorsey and James Alfonso Dorsey was born in La Plata, Maryland, Sunday, August 30, 1959. Brenda was raised in Charles County, Maryland and educated in the public schools including Bel Alton High School.

During life, Brenda was blessed with five children, Michelle "Tweety" deceased, Felicia Farmer (Edgar), Brittany, Shirley and Travis; ten grandchildren, Jonathan, Jocelin, Jasmine, Jevonte, Justin, Devonte, Dashana, Desmear, Dre'Quann and Mariah (which she loved and helped raised); four great grandchildren. She had a unique and special bond with each of them. Brenda was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her family.

Her favorite past times were dancing, listening to music and taking pictures. If she wasn't doing one of those you were sure to find her playing bingo or playing cards. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family. As long as she saw them laugh, happy and well, Brenda was too.

In addition to her parents and daughter, Brenda was preceded into eternal life by her sister Janice.

In addition to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she leaves loving memories to three sisters, Shirley Dorsey, Shelia Dorsey and Linda Yates; four brothers, Joseph Tolson, John Tolson, David Dorsey and James Dorsey; three nieces, Mary Dorsey, Rachel Dorsey and Syreeta Lancaster; nephew, James Lancaster; two special friends she was with daily, Glen Baker and Walter Hicks and a host of other relatives and friends.
