Goolsby, Bobby Lee (Age 69) of New Carrollton, Maryland.
Obituary
Bob, as he preferred to be called, succumbed August 9, 2014, at Doctor's Community Hospital in Lanham, Maryland.
Bobby Lee, "Goose" was the son of Joe Benny and Effie Goolsby, who preceded him in death. Born in Shelby, North Carolina, and a graduate of Cleveland High School, he never stopped striving to reinvent himself and become wealthy so that he could take care of his family. Bob was drafted into the army right after high school, served two years and was honorably discharged March 25, 1971. After his military stint, he moved to Washington, DC. He enrolled in many courses in electronics at the community college in DC. He was hired by and retired from Pitney Bowles where he was able to use his education to repair electronic devices—copiers, printers, computers etcetera. After retirement, his goal in life was to become a successful entrepreneur.
One of his favorite pastimes was going to the park and "people watching". He enjoyed life and loved his family. For years "Goose" looked forward to going out to dinner to celebrate the birthday of his sisters and nephew and other family gatherings. He was particularly proud of his five grandchildren and enjoyed roughhousing with the triplets—throwing them around and "toughening" them up, as he was so fond of saying.
Mourning his loss are his two daughters, Ivy A. Tyson-Parks of Lawndale, NC, Amber M. Harris of Lanham, MD; three sisters, Rebecca Abernethy of Hickory, NC, Daisy Murrell of Accokeek, MD and Effie M. Goolsby of Indian Head MD; one brother, Samuel L. Goolsby of Shelby, NC, (Joe Goolsby, Jr. preceded him in death); five grandchildren, two nephews, four nieces and many cousins and friends.
