Blanche Elizabeth (Gutrick) Waters, 91 of Welcome, Maryland formerly of Nanjemoy, Maryland.

The Journey

Blanche Elizabeth Waters was the oldest born to the late Samuel and Emma Dorsey Gutrick in Nanjemoy, Maryland on September 8, 1929.  She peacefully transitioned to eternal life on March 10, 2021 at Sagepoint Nursing Facility in La Plata, Maryland.

Blanche received her education through the Charles County Public Schools and graduated from Pomonkey High School in 1947.

After graduation, she met and married the love of her life, Lemuel.  From this union Blanche and Lemuel had five children, Diane, Wayne, Patricia, Theresa, and Denise.

Blanche a homemaker, enjoyed taking care of her family, while crocheting and sewing.  Regularly making afghans for family and friends.  She accepted the Lord at an early age and was a longtime member of Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church.  Her relationship with the Lord was strong and unwavering.  She was a member of the Senior Choir, Helping Hands Club, and Chairwoman of the Missionary Board.

She enjoyed socializing and exercising with her friends at the Nanjemoy Community Center.

In September 2019, she celebrated her 90 ^th birthday with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lemuel, daughter Denise Mair, great-granddaughter Bria Warren and siblings Ruth (William) Posey and McKinley "Sonny" (Marinetta) Gutrick.

She leaves to cherish her memory, four children: Diane Warren (Phil), Wayne Waters, Patricia Washington (Perry) and Theresa Grant (Darryl), 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, sister-in-law Isabelle Waters and a host of relatives and friends.

Viewing, 9:00 a.m. until time of Service, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 20, 2021 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.  Interment, Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 8705 Gilroy Road, Nanjemoy, Maryland 20662.
