IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bertha Mary
Chisley
December 25, 1921 – September 17, 2023
BERTHA MARY CHISLEY, 101, OF CHELTENHAM, MARYLAND
On Sunday, September 17, 2023 God called another angel home. Bertha Mary Chisley departed this life peacefully at home.
Bertha was the daughter of the late Henry and Clara Yates. She was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1921 in Faulkner, Maryland. Bertha attended Bel Alton public schools in Charles County. She was married to the late Wilbert Lawrence Chisley and from that union six children were born. Bertha is preceded in death by her oldest son Thaddeus Lawrence Chisley. She leaves to cherish in joy, love, her precious memories her children: Carl Chisley, Lavon Hawkins (special son) Sharon Ward (Oliver), Anthony Chisley (Regina), Felixico Chisley (Angela), and Lawana Chisley (Mark). Bertha is also preceded in death by one grandson Byron Chisley but leaves to carry on in her memory ten grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, and seventeen great great grandchildren. Bertha preceded in death by William, Margaret Savoy, James, Paul, Earl, Omia Chisley, John, Spencer, Herman, and Lillian Watson she leaves one brother Allen Yates, and one sister Jeanette Cooper, Godson Gregory Yates and Goddaughter Thecla Thomas. There are special neices and nephews that she considered her children, sorry we can't list you all, but you know who you are, a host of other nieces and nephews, relatives, friends, and acquaintances.
Bertha was a very protective and loving mother as she raised her children to be respectful men and women. She was the most caring person that always showed a lot of love for others especially for those who were less fortunate than herself. She loved to travel and make memories with her family. When she wasn't traveling she loved to throw a good party with food, music, and family. She would find any reason to make her famous cakes and not to mention her homemade rolls and preserves. Bertha enjoyed her life so much especially watching her grandchildren, and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren grow as this was the biggest enjoyment of her life. Bertha gave her all unselfishly with beauty and grace never wanting anything in return. Her spirit is a true example of God's unconditional love and she will be loved, admired and missed by all.
