Bernice Catherine (Jackson) Patten, Age 74 of Annandale, Virginia.

Bernice Catherine Patten went home to the Lord, Wednesday, February 17, 2016. She was born July 4, 1941 in Washington D.C. to the late Catherine L. Poe and Rosko Jackson.

Bernice attended Dunbar High School, graduating with honors and later graduated from Howard University as a Valedictorian and majored in Math, then spent a significant amount of her career working for American Airlines, and then went on to do some telemarketing before retiring.

Bernice met Steve Allen Patten in 1978 at a shoe store that he worked at, shortly after they married and had Steven Anthony Patten Sr. Her son became her world, she would spend as much time as she could with him and spent countless hours playing his games, taking him to the zoo, & all around D.C. And not just being a wonderful mom but a best friend.

Family and friends were her passion and delight, if you needed anything she was always there no matter what. She enjoyed playing cards with her son, nieces and nephews & also they enjoyed her puzzles and long conversations.

Bernice is survived by her son Steven A Patten Sr., daughter-in-law Meagan, four grandchildren, Kathleen, Grace, Anthony, and Calvin. Brothers, Leonard and James. Sister Medora. Sister-in-law Ruby Poe. Nephew's, Nick, Lenoard (Mike), Charles, Shaun. Niece's, Lenore, Katherine, Sarretta, Taleva & Shelly. Cousin, Gayle, and a number of great nephews and nieces.

Viewing 10am until time of Funeral Service, 11am at the Evangel Cathedal, 13901 Central Avenue, Upper Marlboro, Maryland 20774. Interment, Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, Maryland 20722.
