IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bennett Conrad
Young
May 25, 1931 – January 26, 2023
Bennett Conrad Young, affectionately known as Connie, was born May 25, 1931, to the late Genevieve (Be Be) Toye Young and Louis Grant Young. The fourth of seven children, Connie was raised in Benedict, MD and attended Charles County public schools. He was raised as a member of the Catholic Church but later in life attended Christ Episcopal Church.
In 1951 Connie was drafted into the US Army. After serving for two years, he was honorably discharged and returned to Indian Head, MD where he began working at the Naval Propellant Plant. It was there that he would meet his future wife of 67 years, Mary Ann Lewis, and go on to have two children: daughter Bennita Young and bonus son Warren Taylor Sr.
Connie had many interests that included listening to music (especially the oldies), drawing, and building things like a doll house for his wife and a life like playhouse for his granddaughter Marquita. He also loved being an active part of his community, as a member of the American Legion Post 170 and as a helping hand to the various young people he would meet. Dubbed "Grandfather", he had a deep love and pride for his grandchildren, but especially adored his granddaughters who lovingly helped care for him as his illness progressed.
Bennett Conrad Young is preceded in death by parents Genevieve and Louis Young, sisters Helen and Vivian, brothers Phil, Grant Lee, Billy, and Maynard, daughter Bennita Young and son Warren Taylor, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory loving wife Mary Ann Young, grandchildren Warren Taylor Jr., Marquita Phillips, and Kea Dodson, great- grandchildren Tabryna Taylor, Tariq Robertson, and Bennita Douglas, close cousin Anna Proctor, sister-in-laws Estelle Holmes and Margret Young (Maynard), brother-in-law Van Dyke Lewis, a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and friends, and four-legged companion Puppup.
"I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die."
