IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barron Brown,
Sr.
August 26, 1958 – May 16, 2017
Barron Brown, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Medstar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. He was born to William Brown, Jr and Luvenia Brown on August 26, 1958 in Washington, DC. He attended DC Public Schools, where he graduated from Dunbar S.H.S. in 1978. He soon married his first wife, Lavon Brown and from that union, Barron Brown, Jr. and Patrick Brown were born. He later met J'Nel Cole and that union produced Brianna Brown. As fate would have it, he soon after, met Judy Gray and they were married April 16, 2004.
Barron pursued law enforcement, as an early career decision. He joined the Metropolitan Police Dept. and served with dedication and fortitude until his retirement.
His childhood was not without adventure. His inherent love for music caused him to travel in diverse circles and forge life-long friendships. Barron's music engagements afforded him the opportunity to travel to Rome, before the age of 15 yrs old. He sang with the National Children's Choir, during Nixon's presidency and met with the Pope.
Growing up in Northeast DC (Clown Town), and then onto Sursum Corda was a life altering experience. Sharing a household with countless siblings, prepared him for all of life's antics.
Very few experiences compared to his love for family. He and his brothers shared a bond that will forever be unbroken. Sports, women, food and music were common factors during their youth. Adulthood brought new focus in the form of children and grandchildren. Barron reveled in parenting and being a husband. His wife, children and grandchildren were the source of great joy for Barron. Although, he could be seen as a very stern father, he no less, loved his kids. They each know and will always remember his infamous adage, "Ah yea, gitcho…."
Barron goes on to join loved ones who preceded him in death: Mom and Dad; Brothers, William Brown, III, Ronnie Dyson, Emmuth Brown, Sr.,; Sister, Fontina Cain; three Brothers-In-Law, and other relatives. He leaves to celebrate his legacy: Wife, Judy Brown; Sons: Barron Brown, Jr. and Patrick Brown, Daughter: Briana Brown, Tierra Cole (Stepdaughter); Grandchildren: Brittney, Ariana, Barron, III, Aniya, Paisley, Tariq, Leon and Jayceon; Daughter-In-Law: Arica Brown; Siblings: Paula, Lucius, Susan, Kevin, Zachery and Corinthia, One Aunt and Uncle: Bernice and Alfred Alexander; countless Nieces, Nephews, Grandnieces and Grandnephews; Great-great Niece and Nephews. Host of other relatives, too extensive to list individually.
