Barbara Manning (78) of Fort Washington, Maryland  born July 15, 1945 in Saluda, Virginia, peacefully transitioned on June 26, 2024.

Barbara Jean Jordan Manning, of Ft Washington Maryland, was born on July 15, 1945, in Saluda Virginia, to George W. Jordan Sr. and Sadie Baul Jordan, the third eldest of 4 children. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Joyce Payne and George Jordan Jr.  She was at home when God called her to eternal rest on June 26, 2024.

At a young age, she was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and sang in the church choir. She graduated from St. Clare Walker High School in 1962 and attended Westchester College, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

She married the love of her life, Anthony (Tony) Manning. They had 2 daughters, Veronica (Ronni) and Victoria (Vikki) and raised them in Maryland.  She led by example, committed herself to her girls' happiness and well-being, and put God and family first.

She retired from the Dept of Labor after 29 years of federal service and enjoyed supporting her daughters in their life's journeys, taking pictures, traveling, gambling, watching soap operas and Orioles baseball, hanging out with her sister and partner in crime, Teeny, and being an adoring Granny and GG to her granddaughters and great grands.

Barbara leaves to mourn:  husband, Tony Manning; daughters, Ronni LeGrande (Daryl) and Vikki Dorsey (Don); sister, Eva "Teeny" Knight (Fred); sisters in law, Vernona Colbert (Raymond) and Deborah Carrington Smith (Cedric); grandchildren, Cheyney Dymond (Adam), Danielle Dorsey, Gabby Dorsey; great granddaughters, Harley Bryant and Dakota Dymond; and a host of relatives and friends.  She was a loving stepmother to Shree, Iris, Ronald, Carla, Wanda (James), Chris (Debra), and Twana (Victor).

Viewing 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2024, until time of Service, 11:00 a.m. in The Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD, 20640.
