BARBARA ANN (JACKSON) JOHNSON (AGE 69) OF BILOXI, MISSISSIPPI

Barbara Ann Johnson was born August 1, 1951, in Doncaster, Maryland to the late Albert C. Jackson and Ida Alberta Jackson.

Barbara accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Nanjemoy, Maryland where she became a member. Barbara loved the Lord, served on the Choir, taught Vacation Bible School and taught Sunday School. She was the Financial Secretary for a number of years. After retirement she moved to Virginia and continued worshipping and serving at Zion Baptist Church in Tucker Hill, Virginia. She then attended Macedonia Baptist Church in Centercross, Virginia where she served as Trustee. After moving to Biloxi, Mississippi she continued serving and worshipping the Lord through visitations and virtual services with the First Baptist Church of Loretto, Virginia.

Barbara received her education from the Charles County Maryland Public School System. She extended her education by attending the University of The District of Columbia and the University of Virginia, where she completed her degree requirements in Business and Contract Administration. Barbara also attended Harvest Christian College where she studied Theology.  Her education led her to a career as an Office Administrator,  Proctor, Licensing Agent and Contracting Officer.  Barbara has worked for the District of Columbia Medical Board and for numerous Federal Government Agencies to include the Naval Research Laboratory, Housing and Urban Development and Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Barbara completed nearly 29 years of Federal Service. She had the skill of being an orator and was also a member of Toastmasters International engaging in motivational public speaking.

Barbara enjoyed board games, arts, crafts, cooking, reading, singing, traveling and most of all spending quality time with her family.  She is best remembered for her love of family, generosity, humility and humble spirit.

Barbara departed this life on August 9, 2020, peacefully at home in Biloxi, Mississippi with her husband John by her side. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Grandparents, Ben and Hazel Gutrick; Brother, Albert Junior Jackson (Tom), Sister in Law Mary Lyles, Brothers in Law James Edward Johnson, Richard Johnson and James Matthews; Aunts, Pearl Smith, Nellie Washington, Emma Berry, Beatrice Burns, Laura Warren and Nancy McDaniel; Uncles, Noble, Isaac, Curtis, Raymond, Henry, Robert Jackson and Robert Gutrick .

She leaves to cherish in her memories her husband, John Johnson; Children, Kristopher Johnson, Eric Johnson and Aimee Hines; 7 Grandchildren; Sister, Mary Hodgson; Sisters in Law, Cecelia Carter, Ella Louise Riley and Laura Pierre; Brother in Law, Francis Janifer; Aunts, Annie Warren, Shirley Lewis, Betty Ross, Vyria Cobey and Geraldine Ward and a host of Nieces, Nephews other Relatives and Friends

Her Viewing will be, 3:00 pm, until time of Service, 4:00 pm, Sunday, August 23, 2020 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.

Interment, 11:15 am, Monday, August 24, 2020 at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623.
