The Journey of Barbara Jean Fenwick

"There are many things in life that we cannot understand, but we are guided by God's Judgment and his hand"

Barbara Jean Fenwick, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, passed peacefully on May 17, 2018 in Clinton, Maryland at the age of 74.

She was born to the late Arthur Leo and Margaret Dade on February 23, 1944 in Charles County, Maryland. She had 12 siblings and enjoyed spending time with each one of them. Her uncle's used to refer to her as "Fox". She graduated from Bel Alton High School in 1962. During her time in high school, she met the love of her life, James A. Fenwick. They declared their love for each other on June 19, 1965 at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church in Washington, DC and raised four humble children. Barbara lost her eldest child, Cykeithia in May of 2005.

While her children were at school, she worked for Sears and then advanced to work with Bell Atlantic where she worked for 31 years and retired in 2001. Her co-workers used to refer to her as "Fenny".

Barbara was a spontaneous individual. She enjoyed many things such as dancing, reading, and shopping. She would wake up early in the morning, turn on gospel music, and drink a cup of coffee before beginning her day. She kept a very ornamented home full of pictures of her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, parents, and siblings. She also was a very social being. If she wasn't on the phone with her sister discussing "The Young and The Restless", she would either be on the phone with her daughter grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or close friends.

Barbara loved all of her grandchildren. Her weekends were normally filled with visits from each of them. She motivated and inspired each of her grandchildren, and attended all of their high school graduations, and other special events. She always welcomed family and friends with open arms, often times putting others before herself, in order to take care of everyone.

Barbara had a passion for reading the newspaper. From Sunday to Sunday , you could find her reading the Washington Post, and the Maryland Independent. Barbara had an avid love for the game of football, she was a loyal Redskin's fan. She enjoyed spending her Sunday's watching football, with the company of her Yorkshire Terrier Little Man.

Barbara Jean leaves many who will always cherish her memory including: her loving husband, James (Brother); six devoted children, Cykeithia (Jack),Tanya, Tyrone (Rosa), Terrell, Zarlene, Valerie and Wanda; nine wonderful grandchildren, Jaclene, Brandon (deceased), Cherrelle, Dominique, Delante, LaNise, TJ, Angelina, Tyrone Jr; three dear great grandchildren, Mi'zouri, Chase, Cannon; two supportive sisters, Rhoda, Lyannette; one caring brother, Harold; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter Cykeithia, and siblings, Margaret, Catherine, Rose, John, Charles, Joseph, Thomas, Michael and Betty.

It's hard to see tomorrow when someone you love is gone, and it's harder still to realize that your life will still go on; but the Lord won't give your burdens, which He knows you cannot bear; and He will not leave you comfortless — You'll always find Him there. We're all our Father's children, here on earth and up above, and our loved one now walks close to God, surrounded by His Love.
