On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Barbara Ann Epps of Waldorf, Maryland quietly entered eternal rest at her residence. She is survived by her loving children and a host of other relatives and friends.

Barbara A. Epps, 86, died on June 17, 2026, after a long illness. Barbara led a fully inclusive and fulfilling life. She was born March 15, 1940, in Washington, D.C., to the late parents of Elizabeth B. Fortune and Louis Gant. She was educated in the public schools of Washington, D.C. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She loved life and family.

She worked for Automated Services as a Key Punch Operator in her early years. She worked for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) as a Secretary for several years, and many years as Delivery Service Provider Contractor for the Washington Post and the Washington Times before retiring. Barbara joined two bowling leagues in Suitland and Oxon Hill, Maryland, and participated in several bowling tournaments. She loved to bowl. Her nickname was Barbara the Bowler. Barbara cherished her grandchildren. Her top priority was to care for them and homeschool them in preparation for elementary school. Barbara’s legacy lives on through her grandkids as she touched them as a dedicated grandmother and mentor, inspiring them to pursue their dreams.

Barbara was a loving and caring mother to her children. Her children and grandchildren were everything to her. She enjoyed spending past times in teaching them new things, doing puzzles, and being a major influence in their lives. She was a very determined, focused, and dedicated woman to her family, friends, and those she held dear to her heart. She took pride in her children and their accomplishments.

Barbara left us to celebrate her life and cherish her memory, her beloved children Rosalind Jamieson, Bridgette Goss, Christoper Bailey, and late Rodney Bailey and stepdaughter Patricia Hubbert. Two sons-in-law Vagas Goss and Jerome Jamieson, and daughter-in-law Alicia Bailey. Her loving grandchildren Derrick Moore, Darnell Peete, David Errett, Nia Goss, Kyra Bailey, Kamryn Bailey, Faith Hammond, Rodney Bailey, Rodneya Thomas, and Toni Walker. Her late brothers Gene Gant and Ronald Gant. Her half brothers and sisters: Joseph Gant, Lorraine (Rochelle) Talley, Sharon Gant, late Linda (Roger) Thompson, Deborah Gant, Denise (Gant) Brooking, late Tyrone Gant, James Gant, late Calvin (Charis) Gant, Wanda (Benjamin) Gold, Rita (Renee) Gant Swain, Bonita Gant, and Sheri Gant, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and goddaughter Nicole Brown.

Family and friends may visit from 11:00am until time of Memorial Service 11:30am in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.
