Audrey Mae (Marshall) Briscoe, 86 of Fort Washington, Maryland.
Obituary for Audrey Briscoe
Reflections, Audrey Mae Briscoe was born on July 29, 1932 to the late Bernard and Janie Marshall. On August 2, 2018, she peacefully passed away at her home in Fort Washington, MD after a brief illness where she was surrounded by family.
Audrey was one of ten children. She was educated in the Charles County School system, graduating at the age of 16 in 1948. She then went to work at the Naval Ordinance Station in Indian Head, MD.
In January 1953, she gave birth to her one and only child, Gwendolyn Delores Marshall. Although she only gave birth to one, in her heart she had many that she cherished as her own. On February 15, 1969, she married the late Joseph Ambrose Briscoe.
Audrey held down jobs at Pat & Gee Gee's Bar and Restaurant and Moonlight Inn. She often spoke of the people and had plenty of stories from those days. "Her Golden Years" as she called them. From there she went to work at Peoples Drug Store and later retiring from Seafarers Merchant Marine Office.
To know her was to love her. She had a sweet and kind spirit and a sassy comeback for everything. She loved her family, her grandbabies and the gatherings they would share. Although she had her daughter and granddaughters at her fingertips, she loved when the nieces and nephews catered to her. She would say "Shirley called today, she's gonna take me shopping." "Diane called and said I can come live with her if I want." "Jeannie called." "Deborah is coming to take me to bingo." "Wanda's taking me out tomorrow." We definitely can't leave out her favorite twins, Tiffanie and Stephanie. Even though she loved them all there were a few nephews that were very special to her. She cherished her conversations with her cousin Barbie and her outings with her sister, Betty. She also loved to spoil her baby brother, Robert, who, by the way, also told her he had a room when she was ready.
Audrey loved watching her stories and Family Feud, although she couldn't stand Steve Harvey, "with his nasty self", as she would say. However, BINGO was her passion and everyone loved her and took care of her at each bingo hall she attended. A testimony to the kind of woman she was.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Janie Marshall; husband, Joseph Briscoe; brothers, Leroy, Joseph and James Marshall; sisters, Juanita Marshall, Hazel Duckett, Lydia Johnson and Joyce Marshall.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Gwendolyn Marshall; three granddaughters, Seprena Marshall Johnson, Keshia and LaTashia Marshall; five great-grandsons, Damian Smith, Tyriq and Tyquan Edelen, TaDre' and Taivon Marshall; one sister, Mary "Betty" Proctor; one brother, Robert Marshall; in-laws, Mary Alice, Emma Jean, Regina, Clara Mae, Hazel, Marie, Gonza, John, Robert and Melvin; two goddaughters, Diane Duckett Jones and Sheila Dent; a very special cousin, Barbara Chase and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
