Asbury Edward Mills was born on November 11, 1943 in Washington, D.C. to the late John Warren Mills and the late Ruth Carrie (Maxwell) Mills. He departed this life on Monday, February 24, 2014 at his home in Cheverly, MD.

Asbury was raised in Washington, D.C. As a child, he joined Vermont Avenue Baptist Church where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior; he would remain a faithful servant of the Lord his entire life.

Upon graduation from Joel Elias Spingarn High School in Washington, D.C. in 1961, Asbury attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. He then served in the United States Air Force from March 1963 to September 1966. During his service, he received the National Defense Service medal, the Air Force Good Conduct medal, and the Vietnam Service medal.

After an honorable discharge from the Air Force, Asbury worked at the United States Department of State, as a Communication Electronics Officer until 1983. His desire to serve the small business, and Government contractor community led him to form Command Computer Systems in 1983. In 1994 he created AM Consulting Group Inc. (AMCG) where he was President and CEO until his death. In his later years, he utilized his Federal Security Clearance, as an IT Specialist and Disaster Assistance Reservist for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Asbury married Susan Jean (Spong) Mills on June 14, 1982 in London, England. They remained happily married for 31 years.

Asbury enjoyed a passion for Information Technology, supporting his numerous small business clients, and discussing the stories of the Bible. In his later years he was a member of Fort Foote Baptist church, serving as a deacon, and teaching Sunday school. He was an avid Redskins fan; enjoyed watching Tiger Woods on Sundays, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Asbury was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Mills and Ruth Carrie Mills, and his older brother, John W. Mills, Jr.

Asbury is survived by his wife Susan of Cheverly, MD; his sons Christopher Alexander Mills of Laurel, MD and David Daniel Asbury Mills of Cheverly; his daughters Nicolette Victoria Mills of Brooklyn, NY, Charisa Elizabeth Mills of Temple Hills, MD and Sasha Danielle Mills of Atlanta, GA; his grandchildren Jalen Alston, Maliah Mills, Rahsaan Foster and Kehran Foster; his daughter-in-law Anika Mills; his former spouse and mother of Christopher Mills, Yvonne Mills, and his loving nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends.

His Viewing will be held from 10:00am until time of Service, 11:00am, Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Fort Foote Baptist Church, 8310 Fort Foote Road, Fort Washington, Maryland 20744.

Interment, 2:00pm, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland.
