ANTHONY LEROY LEWIS, 78, OF ACCOKEEK, MARYLAND

Called to heaven on January 27, 2022, Anthony Leroy Lewis was the first of ten children born to the late Ruth Lewis and the late James Lewis on May 21, 1943.

In 1966, Anthony was drafted by the United States Army, where he served two years in the Vietnam War. During the war, Anthony earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Unit Commendation.

On December 23, 1972, Anthony married the love his life, Barbara Bateman, spending 49 beautiful years together.

Affectionately known as "Lewis," Anthony retired as a Materials Handler/Forklift Operator from the U.S. Bureau of Engraving & Printing after 25 years.  During his time at the U.S. Bureau of Engraving & Printing, Anthony was recognized for his outstanding work ethic and leadership.

Outside of being a devoted Christian and praying warrior, Anthony was known for his playful spirit and loving personality. He always had a million jokes to light up any room and a loving spirt to make everyone always feel welcomed and loved. During his down time, he enjoyed grilling, watching Korean Martial Arts, playing around with his tech gadgets and FaceTime with his grandson who he called "The General." A simple man, most would say and that he truly was, with a few tips, tricks, and a prayer to follow.

Anthony leaves behind to cherish his memory: wife, Barbara Lewis; son, Rodney Foster; daughter, Lauren Williams; grandson, Seth Williams; sisters, Janice Lewis and Lynn Lewis; brothers, Albert Lewis, Donald Lewis, Joseph Lewis (Jacqueline Lewis), Keith Lewis, Kevin Lewis; cousin, Phyllis Solomon; nieces, nephews, and a host of family and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Anthony was proceeded in death by his brother, Allan Lewis and sister, Diane Lewis.

Anthony will forever be missed but never forgotten.
