Anna Deloris Proctor of Ft. Washington, MD transitioned November 6, 2024.

Anna Deloris Proctor Born on May 2, 1937, in Prince George's County, Maryland, Deloris was a lifelong resident of the area, and her roots ran deep in the community. As a child, she was surrounded by a large, loving family, and her upbringing instilled in her the values of hard work, faith, and dedication to those she loved. Deloris attended Fairmont Heights High School, where she excelled as both a student and a compassionate friend. Her love for her community and family never wavered, and she spent the majority of her life working to bring joy and support to those around her.

Deloris had a long and fulfilling career at Andrews Air Force Base, where she worked for many years, ultimately retiring in 2016 at the age of 79. Her commitment to her work was a testament to her strong work ethic and dedication to the service of others. Deloris was known not only for her professionalism but also for her warm heart and ability to brighten the day of anyone she encountered.

A cherished matriarch of her family, Deloris was the "glue" that held everyone together. She was the one who orchestrated the family gatherings, particularly her legendary Sunday dinners, where laughter and love filled the air. Whether it was sharing stories over crabs or passing around a cold Pepsi, Deloris made every moment with her feel special. Her home was always a place of refuge, joy, and connection, and she treasured the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Deloris was a woman of deep faith and unwavering love for her family. She taught her children and grandchildren the importance of kindness, resilience, and the value of family. Her presence brought comfort, and her advice, no matter how simple, was always full of wisdom. She had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel loved, understood, and accepted. Deloris was a true friend to many, and her generous spirit reached far beyond the confines of her immediate family.

Deloris will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her memory will live on through the many lives she touched. She leaves behind her two beloved daughters, Sharon Proctor and Cassandra Butler, her daughter-in-law, Valerie Proctor, her cherished grandchildren, Ron Butler (Yolanda) and Nichelle Covington, and her great-grandchildren, Tieshia Williams (Ricardo), Davante Dean, Quintin Butler, Mykaia Johnson, Makayla Johnson, Zanaya Dean, Jachin Johnson, Jalen Butler, and Zyier Covington. She was also a proud great-great-grandmother to Yazmyn Dean.

Deloris is survived by her nephews, Jim Queen and Garry Proctor, and a host of extended family members and friends who considered her a guiding light in their lives.

Deloris is preceded in death by her parents, Sydney Francis and Carrie Francis, her siblings, Joseph, Elizabeth, Sydney, Mary, Comillious, Maurice, Rebecca, and Audrey, her son,Thaddeus Proctor and her beloved grandchildren, David Dean and Micheal "Boobie" Johnson Jr. and Her Best friend Grace Proctor. She is also preceded in death by numerous other cherished relatives and friends who have gone before her.

Deloris lived her life with grace, strength, and an unshakable devotion to those she loved. While her physical presence will be missed, her spirit will live on forever in the hearts of her family and all those whose lives she touched.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all of Deloris's friends and everyone who supported her throughout her life. Her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will never be forgotten.

Friends may visit with the family Friday, November 15, 2024 from 9am until time of service at 11am in The Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, 3439 Livingston Road Indian Head, MD. Interment immediately to follow at St. Ignatius Church Cemetery, Oxon Hill, MD.
