Obituary
Ann Elizabeth Yates Washington departed this life on December 14, 2010 at Fort Washington Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born and raised in Charles County, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late Mary and Walter Yates.
She attended school in Charles County, Maryland. In 1929, she married Raymond F. Washington and they moved to Prince George's County in 1931.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Raymond F. Washington; sisters Blanch and Mary; brothers, George, Earl and James and grandson, Malcom Warrick. She is survived by two daughters, Vernice Warrick and Mary Washington and one son, Francis Washington, daughter-in-law, Emma Louise, and a sister, Alice Young. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, great, great, great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
She was a loving mother and granny. She loved to play cards, slots, Bingo, and Pokeno with her many friends and family. She also liked to garden, solve word puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, do needle work and bake for her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her 4th of July family and friends cookouts for which she did most of the planning, shopping and cooking. She enjoyed fishing, summer vacation, travel and visiting relatives. She also liked being independent and at age 50 got her driver's license and drove until she was 90 years old.
She faithfully attended Saint Mary's Catholic Church of Piscataway, Maryland where she was a member for approximately 68 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Sodality until her health declined and faithfully participated in most activities, especially the annual church bazaar for which she baked her famous cupcakes.
