Obituary

Ann Elizabeth (Lewis) Newman, 72, of Accokeek, Maryland.

Ann Elizabeth Newman, 72 of Accokeek, Maryland transitioned this earth for her heavenly home on May 17, 2023.

Ann was born on April 14, 1951 to the late James W. Lewis and Elizabeth C. Lewis-Davis.  She was united in Holy Matrimony to her high school sweetheart,  Milton F. Newman on March 20, 1971.  Through this union they had two sons, Dewayne I. Newman (d) and Keith I. Newman.

Over the years, Ann was the caregiver for her beloved husband Milton as his health begin to decline.  As Milton has said on numerous occasions "he couldn't have asked for a better wife."  Ann was also a caregiver for her mother and great-aunt Mary before their deaths.

Ann was an outstanding and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, cousin, godmother, neighbor and friend. As most people knew, she was Mr. Newman's (Bud) favorite daughter-in-law.  She also was a pet mom to her beloved Pomeranian puppies Dallas and Delilah.

Ann was educated in the Prince George's County School system.  She attended and graduated from Surrattsville High School in Clinton, Maryland.  After graduating from high school in 1969, she began working for the Federal Government at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She then was employed with the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC).  Upon retirement she worked for the Surface Transportation Board (formally ICC) and retired in 2011 with 42 years of distinguish service.

In her pastime, Ann enjoyed going on cruises with her cousins and bus trips with Mr. Kenneth Ford.  She especially enjoyed the trips to New York to see the latest play.   She was also a huge fan of the late country singer Kenny Rogers and would attend his concerts whenever she could.    Ann also liked chatting and laughing on the phone with her girlfriends, Thelery, Kim, Cindy and Winona to name a few.

Ann had a passion for cooking and entertaining and always brought joy to every event.  She was a social butterfly and a delight to be around.  She was always dependable with family events and especially the Fords, Middleton and Clagett Family Reunions.  She also prepared and delivered Sunday dinners to family and friends with a smile that would brighten your day.

Ann had a very pleasant personality.  She was always telling jokes and making people laugh.  Ann had a very infectious smile that would brighten everyone's day. She will be truly missed, but will always remain in our hearts.

Ann leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 52 years, Milton F. Newman, one son Keith Newman, two brothers Anthony (Jerri) and Patrick (Desiree) Lewis, three nieces Krystle Johnson (Jerron), Brittany and Jenelle Lewis, aunts Mary Branson, Helen (Patsy) Clagett, Veronica Graham (James), Margaret Harris, Estelle Holmes, Mary Ann Young (Conrad), and uncles Charles "Butch" Clagett (Theresa), Henry Lewis (Van Dyke), and three goddaughters Lisa Dusterwald, Peyton and Yarie Yancy (twins), and a host of other relatives and friends.
