Obituary

Ann Louise Leake, 76, of Waldorf, Maryland.

Ann Louise Crawford Leake was born March 4, 1948 in Washington, DC.  She was the third child born to the late Charles and Dolores Crawford. She was part of a loving family of three girls (Faith, Roberta, Susie) and one son (Montgomery). She departed this life on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 with her devoted son Brian by her side. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence E. Leake, daughter Linda A. Hawkins and sister Virginia F. Jefferson.

During her youth Ann accepted Christ and was baptized at Saint Phillips Baptist Church in Washington, DC.  There she served as a youth usher and faithful member.

Educated in Washington, DC Public Schools, Ann attended Bancroft Elementary, Gordon, Jr. High and Western High School from which she graduated in 1966.  She also attended the Cortez Peters Business School, graduating in 1968. Ann was proficient in the valuable skills of shorthand and typing. She accepted a position with the Department of Navy. She was also employed with the Department of Health and Human Services until her retirement in December 2010.

Ann was a devoted wife to Lawrence E. Leake for thirty-seven years.  More than anything, she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren.

Ann was blessed with great style, decorating, and her home reflected every season and holiday beautifully. She loved to shop and was passionate about her high heel shoes. She also enjoyed having lunch on occasion with her high school girlfriends while enjoying her favorite drinks Coke and sweet iced tea.

She leaves to mourn her passing daughter Krystal D. Pinkney, son Brian E. Leake, granddaughter Ciera P. Crawford, grandsons True and Noah Hawkins, sisters Roberta C. Tatum (Joseph), Susie I. Crawford and brother Montgomery C. Crawford (Alfreda).  She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The LORD is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.      Psalm 34:18.
