On January 5, 1955, Anita Laverne Thompson, was born to the late John Earl Thompson, Sr. and Mary Eleanor Proctor in Washington, DC.

Anita was affectionately known as "Nita" by family and friends. She was a feisty individual and loved hanging out with family.   She especially enjoyed her granddaughter, Jasmine. Anita liked gambling and playing Keno and Bingo.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents; John Earl Thompson, Sr. and Mary Eleanor Proctor, sisters; Louise Proctor and Vernette Thompson, brothers; John Thompson, Richard Thompson and Joseph Thompson, nephew; Rodney Shorter, Jr. and longtime friend, Donald Turner.

Anita leaves to cherish precious memories, sons; Paul Thompson (Michele) and George Thompson, daughters; Twana Thompson-Fortune (Robert) and Denise Thompson, 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 5 nieces, 12 nephews, sisters; Marie Fenwick (John) and Constance Thompson; aunts, Mary (Virgie) Thompson, Hester Swann, Paige Coates, Gracie Thompson and brother-in-law, Eugene Proctor.

Her Viewing will be, 10:30 am until time of service, 11:30 am, Tuesday, August 21, 2018, in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.  Interment, St. Peter's Church Cemetery, 3320 St. Peter's Drive, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.
