Andrew William Green, Sr. "Andy" (Age 70) of Mechanicsville, Maryland.
Andrew William "Andy" Green, Sr. was born on July 20, 1944 to the late Alton Harley and Gertrude Green of Clinton, Maryland. He attended Frederick Douglas High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, where he studied Management Training. Andy met and married the love of his life, June Roberta Proctor, on September 24, 1966. They were married 49 years. From this union they have four surviving children: Mary Ann Chase, Andrew William Green, Jr., Charles Rodney Green "Charlie" and Glory Roberta Mayers.
Andy initially raised his family in the Landover area of Prince George's County, Maryland. He loved working hard on the farm and selling produce. In 1963, he started working for the Prince George's County Department of Public Works as a Labor II. From there, he relocated his family to Baltimore, Maryland, where he became a carpet cutter for One Wholesale Carpet Company in 1973. In 1975, he became the Manager of the Cafeteria and Snack Bar for the Blind Industries and Services of Maryland. Andy moved his family to the Mechanicsville area of St. Mary's County, where he became a self-employed farmer selling produce and wood for the Tri-county area while working for the Blind Vending Services of Maryland as a Soda Route Helper. Andy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend and did whatever it took to provide for his wife and children!
Andy was the beloved husband of Mrs. June Roberta Green; devoted father of Mary Ann Chase (Philip), Andrew William Green, Jr. (Debbie), Charles Rodney Green "Charlie" and Glory Roberta Mayers (Dartanion), Andy was preceded in death by his three sisters, Mary "Beatsey" Jones (Frank), Patricia "Trece" Robinson and Josephine Perry. He is also survived by his mother, Gertrude Mary Perry; three brothers, Thomas "Tommy" Green (Carolyn), Charles Green and Ignatius "Nate" Perry, Sr. (Mary); three sisters, Barbara Jean Lyles (Bo), Mary "Joyce" Ziglar (Gabriel) and Marie "Helen" Perry; eight grandchildren, Katrina Chase, Shanita Chase, Eugene McDowell, Joseph Thompson, Josh Thompson, Tierra Thompson, Tracy Hawkins and Alique Smith; eight great grandchildren, Amir Rich, Amari Jackson, Amonte Jackson, Xavier Frazier, Tamyra Thompson, Keeasha McDowell, Tavonte McDowell and Paydence Arrington; twenty-four nephews and nieces along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, loved ones and friends.
